Re: top 2500 accordian players |
With space for 2500, I'm sure we can accommodate both.
Chenier's groups certainly have a less hard-driving, post-Allman-Brothers sound, but there's way more in the actual accordion playing IMO. Bogalusa Boogie's a good place to start, for anyone interested in listening to him. That session also features some slick R&B sax work by John Hart.
And while we're at it, Nathan Abshire could really lay it down.

Re: top 2500 accordian players |
Number 2500 is Jerry Garcia, for the two minutes or whatever that he must have played the accordion he got for his 15h birthday before swapping it for a guitar. Just think ... Mexicali Blues could have had an accordion!
It's not that he was THAT great in only two minutes. But there are not more than 2,499 actually good accordion players in the world.
OK, I did just remember a wonderful singer/musician who happens to play the accordion -- Loreena McKennitt. I mean, you can't really tell there's an accordion in here along with the oud and violin and so on, but IMO that's actually a GOOD thing :-)
Isn't this beautiful?
